Erik HarrisonDirector, Forensic investigations
The digital forensics process ensures that cases are handled carefully and in a manner that accounts for the activity performed during an investigation. This is key for clients who wish to pursue a settlement for cyber breach cases—in court or outside of court—when the data and investigation clearly identify the involved parties.
The types of cases he has worked on include: ransomware, employee misconduct, IP theft, sextortion, phishing, unauthorized access, breaches of personal information, website compromises, fraudulent wire transfers, mobile forensics, and Anton Piller Orders.
Erik brings 15 years of experience to the Cytelligence team, including 8 years managing cyber security programs aligned to ISO 27001, NIST, FFIEC and PCI-DSS standards, and 7 years at TD Bank, Canada's second largest bank.
At TD Bank, Erik led a broad transformation effort to improve the effectiveness of the bank's third-party risk management practice, including regulatory examination and multi-million-dollar project delivery. Prior to that, he built and led teams responsible for IT risk management, project delivery, audit remediation and compliance management within TD's complex technology infrastructure.
Prior to TD, Erik worked in a number of firms providing large-scale web hosting infrastructure, datacenter services and SaaS platforms. Erik helped these organizations stand up their information security programs, certify them to industry standards, and act as the lead for their computer security incident response team.
Erik relies on his deep technical skillset, gained through significant time in operations to understand how systems work, and how they can be broken.
Erik has in-depth knowledge of digital forensic tools such as: X-Ways, Encase, FTK, IEF, Tableau Imagers, Cellebrite Touch2, Physical Analyzer, Magnet AXIOM, Lima, MailXaminer, and various commercial and open source tools.
As technology changes, Erik is constantly upgrading his technical skills and credentials. Most recently, he has added Cellebrite Certified Physical Analyst (CCPA) and a certificate in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) from the University of Toronto to a long list of his certifications.
